Battlefield 2 Anti-tank guide

Infantry equiped with the anti-tank kit are a formidable opponent for any vehicle on the battlefield.

About the anti-tank kit
The anti-tank kit includes a rocket launcher for taking out all types of armour on the battlefield including tanks, APC's, jeeps, boats and even helicopters! The rocket launcher can aslo be used for taking out stationary AA/AT mounted weaponry and infantry.

Also included in the kit is an automatic submachine gun. This is not the best of weapons to use on the battlefield as the damage and range are both quite low. The gun is more of a close range personal protection weapon rather than an all out killing machine!

An important point is that unfortunatly the anti-tank kit does not come with grenades, so don't go reaching for your grenades when you're in a sticky situation!

The Role of AT personel
Anti-tank personnel play a vital role on the battlefield. The rocket launcher is the perfect weapon for taking out tanks and other armour from a distance. While the rocket launcher doesn't do an amazing amount of damage it is great for hammering armour before it gets close enough to take out the rest of your squad. While the kit isn't great on the front-line, it's best position is a defensive one, ready to take out any armour from a comfortable distance.

Using The Rocket Launcher
You have the ability to guide the anti-tank rocket by aligning the circle with your target. You don't have to hold down the fire button to activate the guidance mechanism. It will be guided regardless, so try not to make any sudden movements until it hits the target. The rocket will only turn so much so if you make a sharp turn guidance will end. Iif you want to greatly change the heading of the missile try to make your turn slow but steady.

The Rocket Launcher
There is practically no difference between the rocket launchers in all of the kits. The only noticable difference is the re-load animation! Each sides rocket launcher does exactly the same ammount of damage. What does affect the ammount of damage an anti-tank rocket launcher does is the area you hit on the vehicle. On the tank image below you will see the hit spots and ammount of damage to each section:

tank damage zones

Tanks have 20 health points, taking them down to 2 points will start them burning. As you can see the front armour is strong.
The entire rear end seems to be 9 pointers (inc top side, e.g over engine) the 9 zone around the base of turret is a bit hit and miss in my experience, if going for that its probably best to aim for the panel (next down from the 5/6 zone on turret) rather than the ring between body and turret.

It goes without saying that the tracks are the only way to get a clean 2 shot kill. At times it can be tricky to pop one on the tracks!

The safest bet is probably to aim for the rear end and get it burning (back of turret is also 9`s). All of the bits on top of turret are generally 4/5 with maybe a few dead zones and a few pointy bits.
