AA Igla and stinger guide by <tLS> Meera
The small week looking mounted gun you can see pictured to the left is one of the most usefull weapons in Battlefield 2 when in the hands of a well trained opperator. These fixed AA positions are know as either stinger or Igla and can easily dispatch any ariel threat in the game.
On any map in BF 2 where ther is helicopters or planes you will also get Igla and stinger AA positions dotted around the map and usually within close range of a flag.
Stay in one of these AA positions long enough defending your team mates and you will be awarded with ribons and medals for your efforts. Be careful your missiles will also shoot down friendly aircraft, always keep your eyes wide open on the battlefield.
How do I use the AA positions? Hop into a Stinger or Igla position and the rest is quite simple . You have full 360 degrees rotation in the AA guns and can also point straight up enabling you to track and target even the most agile enemy air assets.
When you spot something in your view finder if it's an enemy you will hear the lock on tone and so will your target. Once you have locked your target will either release his flares or start to fly in an erratic manner to prevent your missiles from hitting him. At this point after locking on to your target you should always wait for them to release their flares (you can see in your view finder when flares are released) As soon as the flares have gone and you have a clear lock onto your target then this is the perfect time to shoot. Let both of your rockets go in quick succession. If both hit home your target will be down no matter what he is flying!
